Position: PROS Employment Specialist/Job Developer

Salary: $38,000

Hours: 8:30am – 4:30pm; occasional flex hours in order to provide on-the-job support and networking.

Position Description:
Clubhouse-Ronkonkoma’s PROS Employment Specialist/Job Developer is responsible for assisting people in recovery to attain, maintain, and advance in positions within competitive employment. Critical activities include:

  • Job develop activities with local business and industry so that people with psychiatric disabilities successfully obtain jobs
  • Individual and group support for people seeking, beginning, and transitioning in jobs and careers
  • Collaboration with rehabilitation, treatment, and support staff as well as family
  • Advisement and assistance with public entitlements
  • PROS Caseload management and support and documentation in an electronic record

Qualifications:
The successful candidate should possess a minimum of a B.A. in a human service discipline plus skills and experiences as follows:

  • Excellent inter-personal communication including the ability to:
  • Network with local business owners and managers in order to obtain positions for our members;
  • Empathize and relate effectively with people in recovery from mental illness and/or personal trauma;
  • Sound communication, organizational, and documentation skills
  • Computer proficiency (our program utilizes an electronic behavioral health record system)
  • Experience with employment-directed services and resources including the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act and public entitlement programs

Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in a human service environment or previous experience.

Position: Para Professional Facilitator
Salary: $32,000
Hours: 8:30am - 4:30pm, occasional evenings
Location: One for Synergy Center in Riverhead, NY; One for Clubhouse-Ronkonkoma
Availability: Immediate

Position Description:
A Clubhouse para-professional facilitator establishes helping relationships with a caseload of 18 people with psychiatric disabilities to assist them to connect to and utilize formal and natural resources critical to attaining and maintaining productive, healthy, and satisfying lifestyles. Key activities include individual rehabilitative goal planning, group work using a psycho-educational curriculum, and teamwork with multi-disciplinary colleagues within an OMH licensed PROS program.

Qualifications:
A Bachelors’ degree is a human service discipline is required. The successful candidate should possess or be quickly able to acquire the following skills and abilities:

  • Excellent inter-personal communication including the ability to establish empathic, empowering relationships with people who have experienced psychiatric disabilities and trauma
  • Sound communication and organization skills including computer literacy (word processing, internet communication, and basic database management)
  • Basic knowledge of the public mental health system and the recovery
  • Training and understanding in substance abuse and/or learning disabilities a plus
