Lisa Koop, MPS
Program Director, Synergy Center
A Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Counselor, Lisa has 30 years experience leading programs in the practices of psychiatry, psychiatric and vocational rehabilitation. She initially came to Clubhouse of Suffolk-Ronkonkoma in 2001 as the Director of Employment Services. In 2006, she was promoted to Director of Synergy Center, a position in which she oversaw the transition of the clubhouse into a licensed program (PROS). Prior to joining Clubhouse, Lisa worked in the Department of Psychiatry at North Shore University Hospital where she provided leadership to help strengthen the department's employment services. She graduated in 1999 from the New York Institute of Technology with a Master of Professional Studies in Clinical Counseling.
Lisa has assumed advocate and leadership roles for mental health rights and empowerment throughout her career. Locally, she has served as co-chair of Disability Mentoring Day under the American Association of People with Disabilities and worked with NAMI on promoting mental health parity legislation.. On a State level, Ms. Koop-Yilmaz has served on the Board of Directors as Co-Chair for several years of the NYAPRS Employment Services Committee. She served one term as the Statewide Chair of the New York State Rehabilitation Council, advising Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities on appropriate services and compliance issues.
